About the Song

“Oh! Santa, Please” is an original Christmas song by Nashville-based singer-songwriter Robby Johnson, shaped by a childhood marked by both hardship and extraordinary love. When Robby was five, his father abandoned the family, leaving behind emotional scars and years of uncertainty. But every December, his grandparents transformed his world. Even though they lived with very little and worked multiple jobs, they welcomed Robby and his family into their home for the entire holiday season. They made sure there was food on the table, gifts under the tree, and a sense of magic that nothing else in his young life could match. Christmas became the one time of year that felt safe, joyful, and full of hope, a feeling that stayed with him long after childhood.

Decades later, that spirit resurfaced in the most unexpected way. After going to bed feeling discouraged about his career, Robby woke up one morning with a melody and the opening lines of a Christmas song in his head, even though he had not been trying to write one. The verses poured out effortlessly, almost as if the song was revealing itself. The chorus arrived a following morning, when he woke up singing a hook he had no memory of composing. Suddenly the entire song made sense.

It felt less like writing and more like receiving something. Robby has often wondered if the song was whispered to him, maybe by Santa, which fits the theme of asking him for the perfect gift… or maybe by the grandparents who once made Christmas feel like a miracle. In many ways, “Oh! Santa, Please” feels like their gift all over again.

Musically, the song embraces the classic sound of the season, with bells, sleigh bells, electric and bass guitars, a horn section, drums, a trio of female background vocalists, and an epic saxophone solo. Produced by Danny Rader and mixed by Chris Utley, it blends nostalgic Christmas warmth with Robby’s signature voice.
